Cut Glass Lovelies

Everyone has his or her idea of a fun activity.

One of mine is attending estate sales.

It's the treasure hunting aspect of such events that's exciting.

After church last weekend, I caught the tail end of a multi-day estate sale.

There were still thousands of items left, which made me wonder what happened to all those things once the sale ended.

Prices were more than 70 percent off since the estate planners probably just wanted to get rid of things.

Another love of mine is cut glass items. They are just so pretty and elegant as well as useful for dips, sauces, etc.

The two shown in this post ended up costing $1 and $2 each. Sold!

DO YOU EVER GO TO ESTATE SALES? IF YES, DO YOU LOOK FOR ANYTHING IN PARTICULAR?

I'm not a shopping and do not attend garage sales or estate sales. Glad you found something you like.

I also am attracted to cut glass. My grandparents moved in with us when I was 5 yrs old, and brought many family pieces with them. Those are now mine. I have added a few pieces myself. I also wonder where all the lovely items that are not sold at estate sales eventually end up. Does the family not want any of it...even a few pieces as a remembrance of the family member who passed away? Seems sad, but things have changed so much. I enjoy your posts and am happy there are still some of us who enjoy things from past times. Linda in AZ

Oh my!!! You got more than just a bargain. I love Estate Sales as well. And on the third day, you can really find some deals. There is a re-sale shop in our big city, that takes the left overs on consignment, however, the prices go up again. The cut crystal is gorgeous.
