Sitting in front of a fireplace is a perfect thing to do on a day like this.
It's c-c-c-cold, gray, and blustery outside.
Wind keeps swaying all the branches of trees that can be seen from the kitchen window.
The ground is frozen and the outside air freezes one's cheeks.
Sadly, the fireplace in my house cannot be lit this winter since it needs a new liner and the cost is very expensive for the budget.
So, candles are there instead but they bring little, if any, warmth.
A Victorian lady sculpture sits on the fireplace mantel.
She, along with some other exquisite pieces of cranberry glass, including two sweet swans, look very pretty, so one can look at them instead of a fire.
Tonight, PBS will run another segment of the series based on James Herriot's "All Creatures Great and Small."
That's something to look forward to.
Hope your day is happy and fulfilling today!

I can see piles of Dove Chocolates on the swans.
Oh! We watched All Creatures Great and Small! Remember watching it years ago when we had younger children, and we’re really looking forward to the series. It will be sad when it ends. So sorry to hear that your fireplace is inoperable at this point. We’ve been enjoying ours.
Oh gosh I wish you had your fireplace going. I have one here and haven't even used it this winter. We've had a warm dry winter here in So. Cal. Looking forward to a better year this year and getting my vaccine as soon as possible.
Your fireplace looks so warm and cozy, Susan. It's too bad you can't use it right now. I have a heater that runs every day because it gets pretty cold here, but at night, I wish I had a fireplace to sit in front of. Wouldn't that be nice? Love your cranberry glass pieces, so beautiful.

Getting a covid vaccine would be wonderful!
