Christmas Decor in the Chilly Outdoors

We live in a part of Massachusetts that is very cold in the winter.

The face-freezing weather rarely bothers me.

It's invigorating.

At Christmas time, I love it when hubs drags out the white lights and deer decorations for the lawn.

Some people prefer multi-colored light displays which truly can be beautiful.

However, I prefer all white lights.

There's a welcome lantern out on the front porch and a jolly Santa figure on an outside chair.

Somehow, as the outside white lights shine on newly fallen snow, they create a calm and peaceful scene.

I prefer white lights, too.
This year, my father expressed a preference for multi-colored, so that's what we went with on the big tree.
Sorry, I don't share your enthusiasm for the cold, LOL!

I can't stand cold wonder I live in So. Cal. I have laser green and red lights and blue and while lights and I love them all. Our neighborhood looks wonderful at this time of year. Such great displays...makes my heart sing. Enjoy your freezing weather and white lights. THey look wonderful.

I have all white lights this year indoor and nothing outdoors this year because I didn't want to do that. Though from my fondest memories of Christmas from when I was younger, it was all colored lights so I still like them as well. I prefer those for the outdoor decor when we've done that.

Here in Central Illinois, we too have cold - it's presently in the 20s and less than that with the wind chill, but I just got back in from my 5 mile run. I hate cold, but I believe in being outdoors in all sorts of weather - that it's good for the soul and I'm rarely sick due to that exercise and good fresh air.

i like all lights this time of year. white ones glisten in the snow. but the colored ones remind me of my childhood. i am partial to the red, green and white lights, though.

I love white lights too - very classy. Your yard is a winter wonderland.

I love your Santa! I must say I prefer colored lights. My girls always referred to our house as a "jewel box" at Christmas time. :) Kit

I prefer colored lights, they make me feel warm and happy. White lights are pretty and elegant, but they don't give me the same warm-fuzzy feeling as colorful lights. Cute Santa.

It's funny that you should ask, Susan, cause I've been thinking of this lately. The girls always decorate their trees in white lights, and I always have to have my colored lights. They just make my heart sing. But the outside lights like your husband did I prefer in white lights. The deer looks sweet, and I love that lantern on the front porch. Oh, your house must look magical from the street. And all that snow - what a winter wonderland!!

love, ~Sheri
